I’ll say it again, because holy cow $66,041.93 FTK! BeatLSU week came to a close last night, with UADM raising $20,002.51 and DMatLSU raising $46,039.42. What an astounding amount to lose to. We could not be more proud to have been apart of that grand total. Only after five years of being an organization, UADM can say they raised $20,000 in seven days, how amazing is that?
Here’s a little bit on how this past week went down.
The week started off just as strong as it ended. Immediately, both dance marathons turned to social media to let each other know they were not going down without a fight. Twitter banter and lighthearted gifs sent back and forth sparked an even greater incentive to preserve our title.
Fundraising events were in full swing this week. Of course, we continued selling those notorious buttons. We even added decals and “Miracle Makers” T-shirts. Staffers were also encouraged to collect spare change from people around campus and invite everyone to sign up for the main event in February. Along with our normal fundraising techniques, we orchestrated spirit nights where a portion of the proceeds go directly to Children’s of Alabama, and we coordinated a corn-hole competition for students to get involved while also raising money.
Now the battle of DMs is tied 1-1, and we are even more excited to see what this competition can do next year. Until then, Roll Tide and FTK!
