Frequently Asked Questions.

What is UADM?

UADM is the all-encompassing name attributed to the student-led effort to provide emotional support and research for children and families treated at the The Children's Hospital of Alabama. It enlists the support of many students and student organizations and across UA's campus, who participate by personal fundraising and attending several fundraising events throughout the year. There is also  UADM's staff which consist of a executive board, directors and team members. These students work towards the administration, promotion, organization, and additional fundraising for all of the festivities attributed to the event. The efforts culminate into a 12-hour no sitting event.

Who does it benefit? How do we know our contributions are going directly to them?

All funds raised go directly to Children's of Alabama, which benefits children with cancer and their families who are treated at the hospital. The money will be used to provide support for the families and to provide for cures for not only cancer but other diseases as well. All pledges given online go directly to Children's of Alabama through our Donor Drive website. Monetary donations given in the form of cash, check, or Bama Cash are directly deposited into a bank account on UA's campus which is monitored by The VP of Finance for UADM and a faculty adviser.

Who can participate? Is it only for students? Do I need to be a UA student?

While the privilege of becoming a UADM Miracle  Maker is reserved for full and part-time UA students, we have other opportunities for alumni, faculty and staff, and others to get involved or watch the event. Please email uadm@sa.ua.edu with any questions you may have about your eligibility.

How can I become involved? Is there a way I can help if I can't attend?

There are several different ways to be involved. Students can join one of the UADM committees and help organize, plan, and fundraise on behalf of UADM. As members of other student organizations across campus, students can register as a UADM team and compete against other teams of similar sizes. Teams can consist of registered student organizations with as many as 180 members, a floor or a residence hall, or even just a group of five friends who want to help in the crusade against cancer. If you would like more information on creating a UADM Team for 2016 please visit our Register page.

What do I do with the money once it is collected?

All online donations through Donor Drive go directly to the hospital. Cash, checks, and Bama Cash must be turned in the day of the event. It also can be given to the UADM staff to put in the bank account at any time during the year. Please contact your team captain if you have cash or check donations.

How long are we allowed to fundraise?

Every day of the year!  Individuals can fundraise and turn in funds up until the day of the Dance Marathon. Miracle  Maker Registration is currently open and money can be deposited into your account as soon as your register.

Is my credit card information secure?

Yes, all donations completed through UADM's online fundraising program and website are secured.

I want to make a donation to a fundraising page but don't like submitting the information over the web. What should I do?

If you don't feel comfortable making a donation online, contact the person who is promoting their online fundraising for UADM and tell them you would like to support their efforts with cash or a check.  Fundraising pages also track “offline” donations, so your fundraiser will receive credit for your contribution.
